Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is an essential component to our sustainability business plan. Our management team meets regularly to review production procedures and make efficiency improvements where needed. Running a tight ship is key to our success.

Special Projects

2015 - Large scale LED retrofit of our facility lighting

Although it appears innocuous, lighting causes air pollution. Each day, local power plant commonly burn coal, oil, and gas to generate electricity for lighting system as well as for your other electrical needs. While burning these fossil fuels produces a readily available and instantaneous supply of electricity, it also generates air pollutants: carbon dioxide (CO2) causes global warming, sulfur dioxide (SO2) causes acid rain, and nitrogen oxides (NOx) cause both acid rain and smog.

Over a 3 years time, the 2015 LED this project helped to decrease air pollution and environmental damage by reducing the following amounts being released into the atmosphere:

      • 8 tons of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide)
      • 1 tons of SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide)
      • 0.9 tons of NOx (Nitrogen Oxide

This reduction is equivalent to:

      • Planting 156 acres of trees
      • Removing 135 cars from the road each year
      • Saving 1,656 barrels of oil annually or
      • Saving 69,528 gallons of gasoline annual

2019 Project - Additional Fixtures

McEntire replaced (9) 400w Metal Halide fixtures with (9) 146w LED fixtures. The Metal Halide fixtures consume 465w, which led to a 69% reduction in energy.

Each year, this project helps to decrease air pollution and environmental damage by reducing the following amounts being released into the atmosphere:

      • 7 tons of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide)
      • 1 tons of SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide)

This reduction is equivalent to:

      • Planting 5 acres of trees
      • Removing 4 cars from the road each year
      • Saving 49 barrels of oil annually or
      • Saving 2,076 gallons of gasoline annual
