June 30, 2021:  Please join us in welcoming Dr. Alexandra Belias to McEntire Produce as Food Safety Manager-Agricultural Operations. Alexandra received her bachelor’s degree in Food Science from Purdue University and recently completed her PhD in Food Science with a concentration in Food Microbiology from Cornell University. While at Cornell, her research focused on using modeling approaches to study foodborne pathogen presence and population dynamics in the pre-harvest produce environment. She is also interested in identifying, implementing, and testing intervention strategies for eliminating foodborne pathogens from food processing environments. Alexandra plans to utilize the findings from her research and other work during her PhD to help implement and improve McEntire’s food safety programs with our raw material suppliers in addition to supporting our Facility’s Food Safety Team efforts.

Dr. Belias joining our management team is another step in McEntire’s continuous improvement journey.  Her skills bring additional expertise to help manage the ever-changing landscape in fresh produce food safety.  We have high expectations for the contributions she will make to our Company supporting McEntire’s mission to be “Safe, Fresh, and Reliable” for all of our customers.
